The Society is a friendly organisation, created to support the Bala Lake Railway Company who operate the 4 and half mile 2ft narrow gauge railway line that runs beside Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) from the village of Llanuwchllyn to the outskirts of Bala.
The Bala Lake Railway relies on the volunteers of the Society, who turn out to help staff the trains, repair the engines and coaches, and relay the track, as well as the hundred-and-one other vital jobs which go to make up the work of a railway company.
For all sorts of reasons, a wide cross section of people (of all ages) find working for the Bala Lake Railway not only satisfying, but very fulfilling, making new friends and expanding their social lives alongside the satisfaction of a day's work well done.
